Panaxy Filtration®: A Halal-Certified Milestone That Set the Industry Standard

In November 2023, Panaxy Filtration® achieved a major breakthrough by obtaining the Malaysia Halal Certification (SPHM) from Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM). This milestone not only marked a national recognition but also reinforced Panaxy’s commitment to providing Halal-compliant water filtration solutions for the food & beverage (F&B) industry.

Panaxy Group M Sdn Bhd held a recognition event to commemorate the achievement, highlighting the company’s continuous efforts to elevate awareness about the importance of Halal water in industrial applications. The event was also attended by esteemed guests from JAKIM and industry experts, reflecting growing interest in Halal compliance across F&B sectors.

“Water is not just a utility – it’s a core ingredient in F&B production,” said Mr. SK Ho, CEO of Panaxy Group. “With water being used in hundreds of liters daily, Halal assurance in water filtration is critical for F&B businesses aiming to meet certification standards.”

Previously certified in India, Panaxy Filtration became one of the pioneering industry-grade water filtration brands in Malaysia to obtain SPHM. The 5-month certification process was supported by Serunai Halal Centre of Excellence, ensuring thorough compliance with JAKIM’s standards.

Panaxy’s marketing director Mr. Gan Jian Hang and Ustaz Mohd Fakarudin bin Masod, Senior Principal Assistant Director of JAKIM’s Halal Management Division, were present at the event. During the Halal Water Filtration Forum, Ustaz Fakarudin emphasized that water filters must fulfill Halal criteria during audits, or risk rejection of certification.

The JAKIM Halal certification mark has officially displayed on Panaxy Filtration’s filter components since Nov 2023.

A study presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Mahyeddin Mohd Salleh from the Institute of Fatwa and Halal Research also revealed concerns over non-Halal filter materials such as bio-ceramics derived from animal bones – often sourced from non-Halal or questionable origins, especially in imported products from China and Taiwan.

Today, Panaxy proudly continues to support Halal-certified F&B operations – from kitchens and restaurants to industrial plants and healthcare facilities – with solutions that are safe, scalable, and sustainable.
